We all face challenges in our lives, sometimes feeling isolated and unable to speak freely to those around us. It can be really beneficial to speak to someone in confidence who is trained in assisting individuals to unravel their thoughts, feelings or fears in order to see a different way forward.
I offer a confidential counselling service to adults from comfortable rooms in Taunton and Winsford. I work in a calm non-judgemental manner, and provide a private space in which to feel safe and comfortable to explore whatever issues are causing difficulties.
The therapeutic goals will be identified together, and a way of working towards achieving those objectives will be an aim. The work together will build a relationship of trust that will be a foundation for positive therapeutic outcomes.
I support clients to address a wide variety of issues and challenges, this may include:
I am particularly aware and have an insight into the particular issues and challenges experienced by those who work in farming or who live a rural lifestyle. The emotional difficulties some face with pregnancy, delivery and the early years are also areas where I am able to offer some specialist knowledge. I have additional training and interest in the effect of a boarding school education on an individual, or on their partner.
It is possible to offer afternoon or evening appointments.
To underpin my work, I adhere to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework and the National Counselling Society Code of Practice. I am a member of both professional bodies.
I hold Professional Liability Insurance.
I access regular supervision from a qualified supervisor, as a mandatory ethical requirement and to provide personal self-care.
I offer a free 40-minute first session, where the presenting issues and desired outcomes are discussed, and then with consent dates and times of subsequent appointments are agreed.
Following sessions are £35 – £40 for a 1-hour appointment, usually weekly.
I adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation 2018, (GDPR) and take responsibility for ensuring respect for client privacy. I anonymise any brief notes I take after a session and store them securely. Client private contact details are stored separately in a locked drawer. Notes are shredded when therapy ends.
After some years of working in health (I qualified in General Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting) and also working in a support role in education, I then trained and qualified as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. The core model studied was integrative, which draws from a set of therapeutic approaches, I work intuitively and mainly from a person-centred perspective.Learn More
